What are some good open source speech to text programs?

What I'd really like is some sort of program that would allow you to take a .wav file and convert it to text instead of just being able to record via microphone in real time. I know Microsoft Office has some sort of speech recognition software, but I don't use Microsoft Office, I use Open Office. So I'd prefer an open source or free ware speech to text program, but if you don't know of any and can point me to one that is pretty cheap I might go that route. Thanks for the help.

Girlfriend Birthday present(will it be ok?)?

Haha. This is just my opinion, but that sounds like a totally awesome gift to me! It's good because... by getting her books you've shown that you know and appreciate how smart she is. August Rush is a great movie. Also, you've added humor, which is always a plus! And you can never go wrong with a sweet note/card.

Make some slits in the skin before cooking. Rub in some olive oil and sea salt and then roast as usual.

What can I do to learn to play the Ukulele?

I started out as just some guy who liked to write music and could sing pretty well. Now I sing three nights a week at a local coffee shop and I have booked a few solo gigs on the town. My buddies sister plays guitar for me right now but she is admittedly a horrible teacher. I haven’t played an instrument since the sax in high school and I really want to learn to play the Ukulele. Anyone have any suggestions? Computer programs, books or anything. I don’t know if there is a significant difference between a guitar and a ukulele. I tried some of the local music schools but none specifically focus on Uku's. I love the sound and the type of atmosphere they create and they could compliment the songs I sing. Any help would be most appreciated!
