I adopted a kitty on Saturday..and he's finally out of hiding and eating normally?

he also thinks he needs to meow REALLY loudly at night but last night i ignored him all night and it wasn't near as bad as the night before. well my real question is..he LOVES to sleep in the cupboards in my kitchen and i don't want him in there but he goes in when I'm sleeping and i find him there in the morning. i want to know how can i keep him out of there short of buying kiddie locks for them? any suggestions would be HIGHLY appreciated.
