Are paid diplomas really worth it?!?

so my boyfriend decided to buy his diploma since he did not graduate and i was just curious can you even attend any colleges with a false diploma or will they go through your records to see if you've actually graduated? so im just curious on how this really works if you've done it or someone you know can you tell me how it went and what not? i keep telling him its not worth it to jus go and retry for taks test but doesnt seem to listen so he actually rather waste $150 on a fake diploma yea go figure... pfft stupid i know.. so yea thnx for ur time,,,
